Our History

Our History

Kevin Bowman who in the late 1980s introduced the first commercial Medical Waste System to hospitals and clinics in South Africa founded the Company in 1998. The original system comprised of the old cardboard box that was lined with a red plastic bag.

Under Kevin’s guidance and management this system grew in popularity until nearly all the hospitals and clinics in South Africa were making use of it.

During the early 1990’s, after attending an International Waste Conference in the U.S.A., Kevin realised that the use of cardboard boxes for Medical Waste collection was gradually being phased out in the Western World and being replaced by a puncture and leak resistant container system. This new system provided a far safer, neater and more hygienic method of Medical Waste Management.

Now as a result, Kevin with his youngest son Andy once again introduced the first fully puncture and leak resistant Bio Hazardous Waste Management System to South Africa, (incidentally 6yrs ahead of Government Promulgation and new Regulations.) and ClinX Waste Management was established.

The ClinX Waste Management name is today well established nationally, with our Head Office in Gauteng & representation in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape whilst servicing many different clients around the entire country personally or with assistance of a very well known and dependable courier service .We have supplied material and know-how to a number of neighbouring countries as well but cannot service these Cross Border Hospitals.
